Each year, when Christmas rolls around, many of us receive Christmas cards, most with a few family photos, highlighting how each family perceives themselves… or how they hope the world will see them anyway.
When I was a kid, Christmas cards didn’t usually include family pictures. The only families I saw portraying a “type” or identity were seen on television. Flip through the channels, and you’d see shows with cool families, blended families, or even monster families!.
From The Munsters to The Brady Bunch, each fictional TV family offered diversity that not everyone could relate to, just like the various types of family images that arrive in your mailbox each December. But if I had to guess, every family (whether they live on your street or your TV screen) is united by a common desire to be connected.
Parents want health and connectivity.
Kids do, too. But how is that achieved?
The answer is surprisingly simple: through PLAYING with and LISTENING to one another… and also saying SORRY when we make mistakes.
Give it a go!
